“Two years ago, I was asked to chair the committee to replace our 20-year-old Saulsbury Rescue truck. We wanted an apparatus that could hold up for 20+ year, carry the extensive array of equipment we currently utilize and be extremely functional. Our local municipality had several requirements, one being we must specify a Spartan chassis. After investigating and meeting with several different manufacturers, the committee selected Custom Fire Apparatus. The West Chester Fire Department already has a Custom Fire Apparatus in the fleet, and we knew about the quality of work, so the decision was an easy one to make. Rescue 53 is truly a CUSTOM apparatus, from the HRT compartment with it’s extendable/retractable ceiling and tool mounts, the wheel well storage and receivers, the interior compartments and lighting to the cab storage cabinet, two words come to mind…QUALITY and CRAFTSMANSHIP! I could go on and on about the fine craftsmen on the floor but their work is proof enough.
